Why is the Federation interested in the planet Horizon? Blake and Jenna investigate, Vila follows, and soon only Avon is left.
The crew are suffering from various aliments; stomach cramps, headaches and back pains, all caused by stress. They have been running for a long time, and desperately need a rest. This is when they come across the planet Horizon.
Horizon is a small planet on the very edge of the known Galaxy, a Federation controlled mining planet producing Monopasium two-three-nine - a valuable mineral.
As they close on the planet, they run into a magnetic barrier around the planet. The systems seem okay, but the planetary defenses now know they are there. However, Blake decides to go down, taking Jenna with him, hoping Horizon can be used as a bolt hold.
Once on the planet, they are soon spotted by the surveillance systems. Guards are sent out and Blake and Jenna are soon rendered unconscious by blow darts.
Back on the Liberator, Cally begins to worry. Blake and Jenna's call is overdue, so Gan and Vila also teleport down. They two are quickly caught. Blake and Jenna are now being tortured, for information about the resistance movement.
Cally herself now beams down, allowing Avon to put an idea to Orac. Avon is thinking about leaving the crew to their fate, sure in the knowledge that with Orac's help, he and the Liberator could survive for a long time. He eventually decides to beam down, using Orac to operate the teleporter.
Cally is also captured, and the crew are put to work in the mines, always at danger from the high radiation levels. Avon beams down and starts to systematically destroy the small sensors. Unlike the other crew members, he takes his time. After rescuing the crew, they teleport back to the Liberator.
