Travis, with a crew of Crimos (sociopaths), holds Blake's cousin Inga hostage on Exbar.
The Liberator is attacked by 8 pursuit ships which they manage to outrun, but they are actually being shepherded into a trap of 20 more of the Federation's crafts. Saved only by Jenna's flying skills and their force wall, they manage to survive long enough to maneuver a way out. The Liberator is able to escape the attack with her superior speed.
While the crew try to recharge the Liberator's drained energy banks, a message comes in from the planet Expar; addressed to Blake himself. Its a signal from Travis, explaining he has captured Inga, Blake's cousin. Travis wants Blake to come to Expar, to team up against the Federation - now that Travis is himself exiled. After a brief argument with Avon, about what clearly appears to be a trap, Blake gets his way and they head for Expar.
On the Federation Headquarters spacestation, Servalan is visited by Councilor Joban, who expresses concern about Blake's non-capture. Blake's name is spreading around the Federation, becoming a word synonymous with freedom. He is quickly becoming a hero among the oppressed masses and they want him caught at all costs. Servalan also receives a message from an unknown source, telling her that Travis is now on Expar and she quickly sets off to the planet herself.
Upon their arrival at Expar, Blake teleports down alone and meets up with his uncle Ushton. Back on the Liberator, Avon seems preoccupied and he eventually teleports down to the surface himself. Ushton is filling Blake in on Travis' arrival, how he came to Expar with 4 "Crimos" - criminal psychopaths. Blake and Ushton head up to Ushton's shelter - with Avon tailing them.
Blake heads off to meet Travis alone, but Ushton is betraying Blake, by calling Travis on a communicator. Avon is worried about the situation and calls for Vila to also beam down. Blake is captured by one of the Crimos while a sleeping Vila is also caught by Ushton.
Travis wants the Liberator and means to use Inga to force Blake to give it up - but Blake won't play ball. Travis switches to Vila to get the ship, knowing he is the weakest out of the Liberator's trio. Vila, after being threatened, calls the ship and issues the Teleport command, bringing the crimo, Molok, onboard the Liberator.
Avon then chooses this time to reveal to Blake that he has sent a message to Space Command, informing Servalan of Travis' whereabouts. Meanwhile, onboard the Liberator, Cally and Jenna trick Molok and teleport him into open space. Ushton and Inga manage get free of Travis and free Blake, Avon and Vila, and they escape back to the Liberator, leaving Travis for Servalan.
